What is a Guest Visit During a Film Festival?

One of the highlights of attending a film festival is watching a film that is followed by a guest visit. This is like  being at the front of the line at a red carpet event where you get to see the filmmakers in person. It's even better because in the intimate setting of a theater, attendees have the opportunity to speak directly to the cast and crew of the film. Directors, producers and cast answer questions from the audience and emcee.

Viewers leave with a more in-depth insight of the film. Actors are candid and relaxed, creating a more personal atmosphere. Some give autographs and allow pictures, but don't be too disappointed if their handlers whisk them away. They often have multiple obligations at a festival and might need to rush off to their next event. Always be a respectful fan.
This past week, Key Light Magazine attended16 different guest visits at the Jeonju International Film Festival. This festival hosted 158 features and 42 shorts. Even at a festival with a run of 10 days, you can only watch 40 films at best. Choosing can sometimes be difficult. To get the most from attending, choose the films with the notation "GV" in the program. Most of the films at JIFF had subtitles in Korean and English. The festival provided translators so that English speaking foreigners could participate in the Q & A sessions.
